A few weeks back, we witnessed a homecoming of sorts for the year-old. It began with her first shows in her old stomping ground of Brooklyn she now lives in LAincluding two sold-out gigs at Bushwick venue, Elsewhere, where the crowd treats her like a superstar, offering her hits on their vaping sticks and throwing mini crowns on stage. Growing up surrounded by music, the teenager says it was always inevitable she would end up following her father into the industry somehow and it just helped that she had a natural talent for writing killer songs.
This could be set to change, however, with Jennifer Lee — writer and co-director of the forthcoming Frozen sequel — reportedly considering making Elsa officially a gay character. Elsa is already seen as a gay icon as she struggles with a secret about herself that is only resolved when she accepts herself for who she is. Much has been written on whether and which Disney princesses are good or bad models.
The Disney XD channel has introduced the company's first male princess on the same show that previously drew controversy for featuring the first same-sex kisses. Heinous storms in and outs him herself, pulling down his shirt to reveal a strand of chest hair. But the other princesses stand by Marco's side," EW.
Celia Johnson is the epitome of a particular type of trope gay British men have long loved. Princess Diana was a champion of queer equality, of course: her excellent record on HIV advocacy and the commitment to activism and social justice she instilled in her sons is testament to that much. But what has always compelled me about Diana is the sense that her doom was not a shock, but an inevitability — as all great art and icons seem to inevitably end up developing.
However, there is still one question about the plot that has people talking, and it has to do with Elsa's sexuality. Shortly after the sequel was announced, rumors started swirling that Elsa would have a girlfriend in the animated movie. Another disagreed, writing, "People are campaigning to make The Joker gay.
But she endeared herself to groups all over the city — women, queer kids, drag queens, ravers, punks — who saw themselves reflected in her music, and over time, she developed rhyming skills that she channeled into energetic, moving anthems. She changed her name to Princess Nokia and released a series of albums, including one of earnest emo anthems, that secured her reputation as a tireless cheerleader for outcasts. Snuggled up in a fluffy red zip-up fleece in a small meeting room in her Bronx apartment building, Frasqueri described what it took to become Princess Nokia.
To those not engrossed in the Frozen fandom, the recent GiveElsaAGirlfriend hashtag probably sounded like a parody of the social-justice movement. But far from being an arbitrary call for diversity if there is such a thingthe campaign is tied very specifically to the text of that insanely popular film. For one thing, Elsa is the only Disney princess er, queen without a potential love interest.
Source: Youtube. Although she has yet to release a full length album, her fans include Harry Styles and Mark Ronson — which is pretty impressive, to say the least. But who is King Princess?

I wrote about how pathetic it is that historically, most Oscar-winning directors and producers have been white men — and how this reflects implicit bias more broadly in Hollywood and our society in general.
