Within the Japanese anime and manga, yaoi is the tradition of representing same-sex male relationships in materials that are generally created by women artists and marketed mostly for Japanese girls  while the genre known as yuri focuses on relationships between women.
Some laws even require that teachers actively portray LGB people in a negative or inaccurate way. While these laws generally are written to apply only to sexual health education, they are often vague can be misapplied by schools to limit other parts of the curriculum, school events and programs, and even extracurricular activities. As a teacher, odds are that you will have at least one student who is gay or lesbian in your classroom. Regardless of how you feel about the LGBT community, as a teacher you have an ethical duty to protect and nurture all of your students. Indoctrination is not too strong a word to describe what was really going on with those classroom activities. There's a sophisticated new arrow in the gay activists' quiver: a polished, well-produced video called It's Elementary. This film is high-quality and very effective -- a direct testimony to the talent, determination, and funding of gay activism.
Create a Safe Classroom. Homophobic and anti-gay slurs are commonplace on school campuses. Adults can play a critical role in curtailing the use of such slurs and ensuring a healthy and safe school climate.
As we transition our undergraduate biology classrooms from traditional lectures to active learning, the dynamics among students become more important. These dynamics can be influenced by student social identities. One social identity that has been unexamined in the context of undergraduate biology is the spectrum of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual LGBTQIA identities.
